FACT:

I once had a 15 year old girl come to my office for a routine school physical. It was immediately obvious this girl had a severe scoliosis. It was the worst, most advanced case I had ever seen. 

After the physical exam, I went over the findings with the parents and also asked them what they were doing about their daughters scoliosis. They looked at me as if I slapped them in the face. They said, "what scoliosis? She has scoliosis?"  I was completely dumb-founded. They had no clue, and I mean it was VERY obvious. Her right hip was at least 2 1/2" higher than her left, her left shoulder was 3" higher than her right and her head was tilted to the left. She walked on her right toes instead of flat footed because of the high hip, AND THEY COULDN'T SEE IT!  I WAS SHOCKED.  

This girl was at the point of needing radical Harrington Rod Surgery, well beyond the help of chiropractic. Unfortunately, they hadn't the money or insurance to properly have their daughter treated. And it is unfortunate for the girl who will have to live with her severe structural deformity for the rest of her life. 

And it didn't have to be that way!  

Have your children checked yearly. Scoliosis when caught early, can most likely be corrected or partially corrected with proper chiropractic care.

When you think of your child's health care, i.e., dental, hearing, eyes, ears, nose and throat, you should also consider the child's spine. The vital pathway which carries ALL the nerves throughout the body to the different organs, tissues and cells. The spine plays a monumental role in your child's well being. A spinal checkup could be one of the most important checkups of your child's life. Why? In addition to the stress of childbirth, the constant running, jumping, falling and bumps of normal childhood can often cause vertebral subluxations, which can cause serious health consequences in the future if left uncorrected. (See below).

A newborn's spine may be subjected to abnormal stress as a result of a difficult birth. Spinal stress can lead to health problems ranging from central motor impairment and develop (sleeplessness, un-coordination, seizures), through impairments of vegetative regulatory systems (vomiting, digestive problems, elimination problems), to ear-nose-throat infections as demonstrated in a paper from the European Medical Journal, Manuelle Medizin.

For over one hundred years, doctors of Chiropractic have observed often dramatic responses in infants and children after receiving chiropractic spinal adjustments in conditions such as Erb's Palsy, unbalanced facial and skull symmetry, digestive problems, foot inversion, colic, twisted or cocked neck, nervousness, and ear, nose and throat infections.

Infants and small children often cannot tell you that they are hurting or "something isn't right". Both a medical and chiropractic spinal checkup is essential for your child's complete health.

Correction of spinal subluxations can have a life awakening effect on your child's total health. Over the years we have seen many positive effects after a child receives a chiropractic adjustment with improvements in emotional, behavioral and neurological problems such as asthma, anxiety, low mental stamina, inability to concentrate, dyslexia, learning difficulties, ADD (attention deficit disorders), discipline problems and repeated ear infections.
